V1 RADIO is an independent online station founded in Melbourne in 2020, playing house, dance and oldskool anthems around the clock. Free and ad-free, it brings the energy of the club to listeners at home and around the world.

BEHIND THE STATION
Born when
nights out stopped.
V1 RADIO began during the pandemic in 2020, created by the same team who previously ran Str8out Radio, a station that is no longer operating. V1 was a new project with a simple purpose: give people the feeling of being at a club in their own homes when going out was not an option.
V1 combines new discoveries with familiar club anthems. Listeners can request tracks and vote on the music through the website, explore the Heard on V1 artist features, and save discoveries from the Daily Five.
The meaning of V1
The name comes from aviation: V1 is the takeoff decision speed. For the station, the idea of committing to takeoff represents music that lifts the mood, brings energy and keeps moving forward, while staying committed to the house, dance and oldskool sound that inspired V1.
The StarterFM partnership
V1 announced its partnership with Sydney’s StarterFM in October 2024. The station is available through the StarterFM app, alongside its own website and listings on TuneIn, Radio Garden and radio.net.
